Washington, DC (December 15, 2025) — The Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA), in partnership with Intead, is excited to announce “Examining Success Factors in Internationalization”, a groundbreaking research project designed to help the international education community make informed, strategic investment decisions. This study addresses a long-standing gap in the field: the lack of organizational models and outcomes data to guide decisions about resourcing internationalization efforts.
Launched at the AIEA 2025 Annual Conference in March, the project already includes interest from over 25 institutions. The initiative aims to gather data from at least 100 U.S.-based institutions to produce a comprehensive benchmarking report, providing actionable insights for leaders in higher education.
Participating institutions will receive a customized report detailing findings specific to their internationalization efforts and access to the resulting industry-wide benchmarking report, highlighting effective organizational models and comparative results across institution types.
This project represents an unprecedented opportunity for international education leaders to better understand the impact of their strategies and make data-driven decisions for the future. By participating, institutions can gain valuable insights into best practices, optimize their investment in internationalization, and contribute to a stronger, more evidence-based field.
AIEA looks forward to the participation of institutions across the U.S. and the valuable insights this collaborative effort will generate to strengthen internationalization practices nationwide.
